Jana Gonnermann-Müller

I am a postdoctoral researcher and lead the Humans and AI research area at the Zuse Institute Berlin.

I trained as a psychologist and received my PhD in Information Systems. My work sits at the intersection of psychology, AI, and immersive technologies such as augmented reality, with a focus on education and learning. I combine methods from psychology and human-centered design to develop and evaluate adaptive systems for learning and decision-making.

Within Humans and AI, we develop LLM-based simulations and multi-agent systems that help teachers personalize learning materials, as well as AI tutors and adaptive augmented reality for vocational training. A second line of work addresses human-AI synergy: when humans and AI complement each other, how trust develops, and how agency is shared.
